Hi there! My name is Gwen or more commonly known as Kylie, and this is my company called The Buddy System! Founded in 2026, the idea originated years before. I grew up loving animals, getting my own dog at only 3 years old. While not an ideal age to adopt, my dog, Buddy, completely shaped my love and passion for animals today. Over the years, my passion grew. Unfortunately around 2022, Buddy became incredibly ill and was soon diagnosed with diabetes. I researched so much about diabetes in dogs in one night, while also hoping and wishing he’d recover fast while at the vets and would give me another 5 years! That’s always how we wish it was, right? He did get better, and my boy gave me at least another year. I did everything I possibly could to make sure his injections were on time and he was getting the right amount of food, and he wasn’t having any seizures. I bought a glaucoma test, I made sure he was in perfect, happy, loving condition. On 03/21/2023 Buddy had passed away. My research did say he’d only have 1 to 3 years, but he was an old man at 14 years old and he had the best life I could’ve given him. Buddy sparked my love for taking care of animals, I learned that whatever i wanted to do wasn’t just vet med, but also watching over and caring for animals. Just as I did with Buddy. I wanted to be a vet for the longest time, then it changed here and there and once I graduated high school I wanted to work in an animal shelter. I found Catnap Hangouts and Adoptions and volunteered for what’s now been nearly 2 years. Catnap truly changed my life, and while being there I rescued many animals and got further into animal medicine. I was inspired to start doing something with animals in my own time, and eventually I built a word of mouth clientele. Since September of 2025, I knew what I wanted to do, and that included caring for special needs animals and spreading any sort of love I have to offer to any animals who need it in Buddy’s honor.
